Jessie Escobar Gomez, 72, of Ballinger went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 1, 2008 after a battle with cancer. He was a beloved and devoted father and grandfather. He loved to play golf and was a member of the PAGA.
Jessie was born August 6, 1935 in Ballinger, Texas to Tomas and Dominga Escobar Gomez. He worked for Ballinger Wool and Mohair for over 38 years. Jessie was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Jeff Gomez, Sr., Tomas Gomez, Frank Gomez, Paul Gomez and Ruben Gomez.
Jessie is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Monica Gomez; one son, Jerry Gomez and wife, Estella, of San Angelo; two daughters, Carol Kay Nombrano of Fort Worth and Diane Guebara and husband, Pete, of San Angelo; three grandsons, Chris Low of Fort Worth, Jerry Gomez, II and Steven Guebara of San Angelo; one granddaughter, Alissa Gomez of San Angelo and one great-granddaughter on the way.
Also surviving are sisters, Manuela Garza, Alicia Gomez, and Minnie Estrada of California, and Dinah Casaras of San Angelo; two brothers, Billy Gomez of Plainview and Lee Gomez of Austin.
The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 4 at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 5 at First Baptist Church in Ballinger with Rev. Bernie Guebara officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Zeke Garcia, Benjamin Martinez, Chris Low, Ray Martinez, Bobby Gomez, David Garcia and Jerry Gomez, II.
