Helen Mary Williams

Helen Mary (Spreen) Williams of Dallas, formerly of Ballinger, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 3, 2008 at her home, surrounded by her loving husband and her caregivers. She was 83.

Helen was born September 1, 1924 in Ballinger, Texas to Andy and Dora Greenwood Spreen and graduated from Ballinger High School in 1942. In Dallas on August 21, 1945 Helen married the love of her life, Jack A. Williams.

Many in Ballinger will remember Helen as the beautiful ticket lady at the Texas Theater where she worked for several years. She was an avid lover of antiques, and she dearly loved her pets.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; half brother, Fred Spreen; and half sisters, Zelda Hendricks and Lynette Brown.

Helen is survived by her husband of 63 years, Jack A.Williams of Dallas, and by her dearest friend and caregiver, Kay Fuqua Sizemore of Ballinger. Also surviving are Judy Eaves, Alvin Spreen, Ralph Spreen, Julia Spreen, and Joyce Spreen.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 8 at 10:30 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Ballinger with Rev. Kary Rawlings officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice or to Helen’s favorite charity, The Humane Society.
