Jack A. Williams

Jack A. Williams, 85, of Dallas and formerly of Ballinger, passed away peacefully at his home May 11, 2008.

He was born July 10, 1922 in Port Lavaca, Texas to James Alton and Edna Juanita Belt-Kerr Williams. The family later moved to Ballinger, Texas where Jack was raised and graduated from Ballinger High School.

Jack was a veteran of WWII for four and a half years, serving in the Army Air Corps. He was a member of the 825th Bomb Squadron and served his country ten months in Italy with the 15th Air Force on a B-24 as a gunner with the rank of Technical Sergeant. Jack was honorably discharged May 25, 1948.

Jack married Helen Spreen on May 21, 1945 in Dallas where they made their home for 63 years. Jack was a successful business man who owned a label manufacturing company for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen Williams; a brother, Gene Williams; and a sister, Wanda Spreen.

Jack is survived by a very dear friend, Kay Fuqua Sizemore of Ballinger.

Thank you to Jack’s caregivers Ci Ci Longoria, Lilly Barrios, Maria Belleda, and others who helped take care of him. Thank you to Dr. Alan Kaye for his many years of taking care of Jack and Helen. A special thanks to St. Michael’s Hospice and their case manager, Vince Cochran, who helped Jack in his final hours.

A graveside service for Jack Williams will be conducted Wednesday, May 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Ballinger with Rev. Kary Rawlings officiating.
