Victor L. Zak, Sr. of Rowena passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at Cedar Manor Nursing and Rehab Center in San Angelo. He was 74.
Victor was born August 6, 1933 in Rowena to Frank J. and Lillie M. (Havlak) Zak.
He was raised in Rowena and attended St. Joseph School. He was an employee of Runnels County, Precinct #4 in Miles, for over twenty years. Vic served his country from 1953 to 1955 in the US Army during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a sister, Ruby Mullenix.
Victor is survived by his daughter, Vickie Martinez and husband, Jesse, of Miles; his son, Victor Zak, Jr. also of Miles; a sister, Lillian Block and husband, James, of Houston; brothers, Bob Zak of Rowena, and Billy Zak of Del Rio. Also surviving are grandson, C. J. Martinez of Miles; and friends and caregivers, Charles and Mary Kellermeier of Miles.
Rosary will be recited Thursday, May 15 at 7:00 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home Chapel in Ballinger. Funeral services will be Friday, May 16 at 10:00 a.m. also at Lange Funeral Home Chapel with Father Bhaskar Morugudi officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Rowena. Pallbearers will be Pat Lange, Bill Lange, Harvey Werner, John Werner, Damon Zak, and Richard Strube.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of San Angelo.
