Dorothy Lee Houston

Dorothy Lee Houston, longtime resident of Paint Rock, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at her residence. She was 86.

Dorothy was born May 1, 1922 in Dallas, Texas to L. M. and Deauty Mae (Norman) Davidson and graduated from Paint Rock High School in 1940. On August 29, 1942 she married W. F. Houston in San Angelo. Dorothy was a member of the Paint Rock First United Methodist Church that her grandfather, J. W. Norman, built in the late 1800’s. She was also a member of the Order of Easter Star. Dorothy was a devoted homemaker and had lived 63 years in her home, the place where she was the happiest.

Mrs. Houston was preceded in death by her parents, and by her husband, W. F. “Dub” Houston on January 28, 2008.

She is survived by her daughters, Pam Franke and husband, Manoah, of Paint Rock; and Kay Ware and husband, Don, of Sweetwater.

Also surviving are grandchildren Amanda Seymore and husband, Tim, of Jayton; Kris Accardo and husband, Joseph, of Copperas Cove; Angela McGlothlin and husband, Bobby, of Abilene; Houston Franke and wife, Cindy, of San Angelo; Scott Ware and wife, Alyssa, of Abilene. Six great-grandchildren survive plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 22 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Paint Rock with Dr. Wilbur Ormond officiating. Burial will follow in the Paint Rock Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Houston Franke, Tim Seymore, Scott Ware, Bobby McGlothlin, Joseph Accardo, and family friend, Al Lovell.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of Paint Rock, West Texas Rehab Center, or to a favorite charity.
