Vivian Hollis Workman

March 28, 1910 — December 5, 2013

Vivian Hollis Workman, 103, of Hatchel passed away Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Ballinger Healthcare and Rehabilitation.

She was born on March 28, 1910 in Coryell County to William Arthur and Myrtie (Chisum) Mitchell. After high school, Vivian married Albert Ray Workman on June 2, 1929 in Winters, TX and they shared forty five happy and loving years together until his passing on March 3, 1974. She was a mother and homemaker to her husband and ten children. Vivian was an active member of 7th Street Baptist Church. She enjoyed making quilts and pot holders and was involved with the Hatchel Quilting Club.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Faye Pinegar; sons, James Ray Workman, Eldon “Shorty” Workman, Earl Dean Workman, and Jimmy Lee Workman; grand-daughter, Angie Marie Workman; and grandson, Stephen Bales.

She is survived by her children; Ruby Redman and husband Curtis of Abilene, Myrtie Bales and husband Don of Hatchel, Arthur Reed “Butch” Workman of Seguin, Dorothy Wadsworth of Ballinger, Mary Piel and husband Gene of Del Rio, and Deacon David Workman and wife Brenda of Hatchel. Also surviving are twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Ballinger Healthcare and Rehabilitation which Vivian called home for the past nine and half years, Dr. Axel Martinez, and Ballinger Home Health and Hospice for their excellent and loving care of Vivian.

Services will be at 10:00 am Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 7th Street Baptist Church in Ballinger with Rev. David Dunn officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be from 6:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, December 11 at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Memorials may be made to 7th Street Baptist Church Building Fund or your favorite charity.
