Rev. Fred H. Brown, retired Methodist Minister and formerly of Winters, died Thursday June 12, 2008 in the Big Spring Hospital in Big Spring, Texas at the age of 81.
He was born on March 18, 1927 in Winters, Texas. He married Patsy Gayle Dietz on June 16, 1955 in Winters. He served in the US Army during WWII and was stationed in Japan. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and his life as a husband, father and minister.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Sanford and Sarah Brown; one brother, John Sanford Brown, Jr.; and two sisters, Tessie Lacy and Emilee McNeil.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Brown of Seminole, Texas; two daughters, Robin Houghton and husband, Garland, of Georgetown; and Rebecca Autry and husband, Robert, of Seminole; one son, Fred Brown, Jr. and wife, Sheila, of Seminole; five brothers, George Brown, Frank Brown, James Brown, Albert Brown and Newby Brown. He also had five grandchildren, Rachel, Katherine, Brice, Brandon and Brent.
Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday, June 14 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Funeral services will be Sunday, June 15 at 3:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Winters with Rev. Joe Chamness officiating. Burial will follow in the Crews Cemetery.
