Margaret Ann Dorner, age 95, of Richardson, Texas passed away Sunday, June 15, 2008.
Margaret was born December 23, 1912 in Ballinger, Texas to Emily Winniefred and Elmer Earnest Hampton. She married Daniel Lute Dorner on May 10, 1936 in San Angelo. She worked various jobs until age forty-six when she completed the Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN) course in Kermit, Texas. The family lived in Monahans at the time. Margaret was a nurse in Kermit, Monahans, and Richardson before retiring at age 72.
Margaret lived in Richardson for forty-one years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Richardson and the oldest member of the Gleaners Sunday School Class. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, embroidery, and card games.
Mrs. Dorner was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Lute Dorner on June 22, 1995; two sons, Bobby D. Wayne Dorner and Daniel Leon Dorner; seven brothers, Luther Hampton, Curtis Hamton, Enos Hampton, Joe Hampton, Billy Jack Hampton, Melvin Hampton, and Elvin Hampton; and two sisters, Lillian Pearse and Dovie Mae Franklin.
She is survived by one daughter, Lavoyda Anderson and husband, Adelbert, of Richardson; one brother, John D. Hampton of McGregor; one sister, Betty Jo Evans of Ft. Worth; and a brother-in-law, Andy Dorner and wife, Bertha, of Ballinger. Also surviving are two grandsons, Timothy Shaun Drinkard of Richardson, and Daniel Brantley Dorner of Columbia, SC; and one granddaughter, Contessa Rae Dorner of Ninety Six, SC; two great-grandaughters, Stephanie Annaliza Drinkard of Somersworth, NH; and Stacy Darlene Drinkard of Richardson; one great-grandson, Nolan Raymond Dorner of Ninety Six, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews
Visitation in the Richardson area will be at Williams Funeral Home in Garland on Thursday, June 19. Local visitation will be Friday, June 20 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Funeral services for Margaret Ann Dorner will be Saturday, June 21 at 10:00 a.m. at Lange Funeral Home Chapel with Max Pratt officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Ballinger.
