Jimmy D. Guevara, a lifetime resident of Ballinger, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2008 at his residence at age 69.
He was born November 17, 1938 in Bronte to Lawrence and Margarite Guevara. On December 23, 1959 Jimmy married Alice Lugo in Ballinger, and he worked all his life in his home town, employed as a project superintendent. He enjoyed his work and also enjoyed golf and yard work, especially tending to his beautiful magnolia trees. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Mr. Guevara was preceded in death by his parents; and by three sisters, Dora Ortegon, Ruth Castillo, and Alice Gomez.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Alice, of Ballinger; his children, Becky Turner and husband, Mark of La Porte; Jimmy Guevara, Jr. and John Bunch of Lynchburg, Virginia; Regina Guevara of Houston; and Gregory Guevara and wife, Carol, of Springfield, Massachusetts. Also surviving are brothers, Lawrence Guevara, Jr. of Brownwood; Robert Guevara of Texas; a sister, Lucy Castillo of Sunnyvale, California; and his grandchildren, Anthony Guevara of Houston, Pascal Martin of Longview; Auricia Martin of La Porte; Danielle, Joshua, Kelsey, Gabriel, and Grayson Guevara all of Springfield, Massachusetts; Mark, Melissa, Chuck, and Rachel Turner of Houston. He had four great-grandchildren, Kaelyn Guevara of Houston; Ava Grace Martin-Mason of La Porte; Jakob Riley Santiago of Houston; and Tayden Turner of Houston. He will be dearly missed by all his family and by his special friend, “Mia,” the pup.
Rosary for Jimmy Guevara will be recited Wednesday, June 25 at 7:00 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 26 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ballinger with Father Hubert Wade officiating. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
