James "Jim" Clack

James Harold Clack, 86, passed away after a lengthy illness on Monday, January 27, 2014 in Ballinger, Texas.

Jim was born in Caddo, Texas on December 14, 1927 to Hubert and Pearl Clack. He grew up in Weatherford and Andrews, Texas, graduating from Andrews High School in 1945. He honorably served in the US Navy in World War II on the aircraft carrier USS Antietam. After completing his military service, he earned a business degree from the University of Texas at El Paso, formerly Texas Western, and worked in his family business in Andrews. He later obtained his law degree from Saint Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. After several years in the private practice of law, Jim served as District Judge for the 109th Judicial District Court in Andrews, Winkler, and Crane counties for ten years. After Judge Clack retired from the bench, he enjoyed traveling and spending time gardening and working on his property in the country, reading and visiting with his children and grandchildren.

Judge Clack is survived by his wife Barbara Culver Clack of Midland, his son Gene and wife Sandra of Ballinger, son Steve and wife Nelwyn of Kerrville, and daughter Cynthia of Odessa. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and only brother.

There will be a memorial service held at Means Memorial United Methodist Church in Andrews, Texas on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 2:00 pm. The family requests in lieu of flowers a donation to the Humane Society or a favorite charity. The family would like to thank all of the friends that shared time with Judge Clack during these past two years and all of the caregivers at the Central Texas Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ballinger, Texas.
