Rupert J. Beach

Rupert J. Beach of San Angelo passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 with his family by his side, at the age of 88 years.

A vigil service will be held at Holy Angels Catholic church on June 26 at 6:30 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be held at Holy Angels Catholic Church on Friday, June 27 at 10:00 a.m. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. A military burial will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery in Olfen.

Rupert was born November 14, 1919 in Oenaville, Texas to Eugene and Marie Beach.
He served in the 3rd Army with General Patton from June 20, 1944 until his honorable discharge on May 6, 1946. He participated in the Ruhr and Rhine River crossings and the liberation of Dachau concentration camp. After returning to the states he and his wife, Adeline, settled at Paint Rock where he engaged in ranching and farming and raising their seven children for the next 45 years.

Due to circumstances in his younger years he was unable to complete high school. Because of this, he continually encouraged his children and stressed the need for higher education. He proudly served on the Paint Rock School Board for 21 years. He was a member of the Lions Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was a 69 year member of Knights of Columbus, having held every position in Council #2772 of Olfen. He was an active member of St. Boniface and Holy Angels Catholic churches. Upon his retirement he and Adeline moved to San Angelo. He enjoyed his hobbies of wood working, gardening, playing dominoes, fishing and hunting. He also attended many athletic events to watch his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Catherine Lange.

Rupert is survived by his loving wife, Adeline, of 66 years; sons, Ronnie Beach and wife, Terri, of San Springs, Oklahoma; Steve Beach of Ballinger; daughters, Sharon King of Midland; Linda Engelbrecht and husband, Tom of San Antonio; Deborah Hohensee and husband, Ronnie of Miles; Lesa Ewald and husband, Brent, and Ruth Dodds and husband, Mickey of San Angelo. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, including Laura Roush, Ross Beach, Brent King, Rebecca Steele, Kelly Marshall, Sarah and Allison Engelbrecht, Tara Ellisor, Shay Hohensee, Taylor and Austin Ewald, Logan and Hannah Dodds, and seven great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are his brothers, Bernard, Norbert, and Daniel Beach, and sisters, Julietta Holtman, Eugenia Lange, Margie Zentner, and Anna Marie Haechten. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Rupert, daddy, dad-o, grandpa, pa-pa—you were dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
