Isabella Weiss Drueckhammer, 98, of Rowena, Texas passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at her daughter’s residence in Mereta.
Isabella was born October 25, 1915 to Alfred and Ida (Pohler) Ruppert in Runnels County, Texas and lived in the Rowena/Lowake area all her life. She attended Lowake School. At an early age she helped her mom cook meals for the hands that worked for her dad at his cotton gin in Lowake.
In 1935 Isabella married Nolan Weiss and worked with him on their farm. During the drought of the 1950’s, she worked at the moccasin factory in San Angelo to supplement the farm income. The couple enjoyed traveling, fishing, and playing with their four grandchildren. Mr. Weiss passed away in 1980. Isabella married Walter Drueckhammer in 1988. They enjoyed traveling, playing dominoes with friends, and dancing prior to his death in 2010.
A longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena, Isabella was also a member of St Ann’s Altar Society and belonged to the Lowake Home Demonstration Club and the Community Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 45 years, Nolan Weiss; her husband of 22 years, Walter Drueckhammer; a brother, George Ruppert; son-in-law, Ed Wanoreck, Jr.; and great-grandson, Kevin Wanoreck.
Isabella is survived by her daughter, Nola Jean Wanoreck of Mereta. Also surviving are grandchildren, Diane Goble and husband, Ralph, of San Angelo; Michael Wanoreck and wife, Sharon, of Rowena; Judy Odell and husband, Jeff, of Mereta; and Gary Wanoreck and friend, Shana Hite, of Mereta. Isabella’s surviving great-grandchildren are Jamie Wanoreck, Jodie McCartney and husband Casey, Jacalyn Baxter and husband Mark, Brandi Goble, Cory Wanoreck, and Darin Wanoreck; and great-great-grandchildren, Emeri and Brantley McCartney.
Rosary will be recited Thursday, February 20, at 7:00 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, February 21, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Wanoreck, Michael Wanoreck, Ralph Goble, Jeff Odell, Joe Schroeder, and David Halfmann.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to Hospice of San Angelo or to a favorite charity.
