Jose M. Gonzales

Jose M. Gonzales, 83, of Ballinger passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Central Texas Nursing and Rehab Center in Ballinger.

He was born August 11, 1930 in Ballinger, Texas to Ignacio and Angelita (Martinez) Gonzales. He married Teresa Arteaga in 1952 at the Courthouse in Ballinger. He was a custodian for BISD for 27 years and worked for several of the carpenters in the Ballinger area for many years.

He was preceded in death by his grandpa, Ben (Tamale Ben) Martinez; his parents, a brother, Ignacio (Nachito) Jr.; a son Ramon Gonzales and a daughter, Mary Hollis.

Jose is survived by his wife, Teresa of the home; three sons, Joe Gonzales and wife, Ruby, of Round Rock, Orlando Gonzales of Ballinger, and David Gonzales and wife, Linda, of Peaster; three daughters, Angie Gonzales of Abilene, Abigail Luera and husband, David, of San Angelo, and Irene Sauceda and husband, Ruben, of Ballinger;. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, a brother, Javier Gonzales of Ballinger; sisters, Pauline Garcia of Irving, Carolina Perez of San Angelo, and Rupeta Flores of Irving, and many special nieces and nephews.

Rosary will be recited Tuesday, March 11 at 7:00 pm at Lange funeral home chapel in Ballinger. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, March 12 at 10:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Hugh Wade officiating. Burial will follow at Latin-American Cemetery.
