John R. Moore

John R. Moore, 94, of Ballinger passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Ballinger Memorial Hospital.

John was a World War II veteran serving twenty four years in the United States Air Force, and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1964.  After his retirement, he continued flying and operated a small private airport and flying school.  John regularly attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ballinger and supported numerous charities.  He was married for fifty seven years to Mary Moore who passed away in 2003.

John is survived by his daughter, Sherry Gullett and husband Bob of Roseville, CA and twin sons, Jack Moore and wife Beth of Roseville, CA and Jim Moore and wife Bette of Santee, CA.  He is also survived by seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.  John lived a long and rich life.  He loved God, his family, and his country and will be missed by everyone whose lives he touched.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 6 from 6-8 pm at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger.  The funeral service will take place Monday, April 7 at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  Burial will follow at Crews Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff of Ballinger Memorial Hospital for their kindness and compassion towards us and our father for the past three weeks.
