Lana Jerene Wheeless

Lana Jerene Wheeless, 70, of Ballinger died Friday, April 18, 2014 in Fort Worth after a brave fight with cancer.

Mrs. Wheeless was born August 30, 1943 in Wilmeth, Texas to Jay Tubbs and Dorothy Lieck.  She married Skipper Wheeless on August 29, 1979.  They have lived in Ballinger since 1980. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and daughter.  Anyone who knew Lana knew of her strong love for her family, especially for her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father Jay Tubbs.

Mrs. Wheeless is survived by her husband Skipper of Ballinger; her mother Dorothy Lieck of Fort Worth; her daughters Sharon Cagle of Fort Worth and Gina Wells of Granbury; her son Jerry Wheeless and wife Denise of Morehead, Kentucky; her sisters, Sue Benton of Cedar Park and Dottie Waters of Fort Worth.  Also surviving are her grandchildren, Casey Cagle, Jaylee Wells, and Heidi Wheeless; her nieces, Christie Givens and Monique Mason; her nephews, Morgan Lindley and Waylon Waters; and a special uncle and aunt, Floyd and Sue Turner of San Angelo.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 3 at First Baptist Church in Ballinger with Brother Bobby Broyles officiating.  Memorials can be made to the Wheeless Benefit Fund at Ballinger Bank or a favorite charity.
