Jean M. Tyree

June 27, 1929 — July 27, 2008

The Lord took Jean Tyree home to be with Him on July 27, 2008. Jean and her sister, Evelyn Simpson, and Jean’s only daughter, Tracee, all shared a birthday on June 27.

Jean was a loving and caring wife who had cared for her husband, Bob, 24 hours a day after he became ill. She and Bob were members of the Valley View Baptist Church for many years until it disbanded, and then they joined the Seventh Street Baptist Church. She helped many people in the years she worked for the Texas Department of Welfare, and she loved her work until her health forced her to retire. She was such a loving “Nannie” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she will be remembered with love always as “Nannie.” She loved to go out to eat lunch with her many dear friends at the Ballinger Senior Citizens Center. She loved to play cards and dominoes with her grandkids, and she loved to show her grandkids off to everyone in town. She helped put all of her grandchildren through the schools of their choice.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Tyree, of Ballinger; daughter, Tracee Craig and husband, Dwayne, of Las Vegas, NM; grandchildren, Jason Craig and wife, Trish, of Denver Colorado; Adam Craig and wife, Lacy, and Kellee Craig, all of Las Vegas, NM; great-grandchildren, Cole and Cade Craig of Las Vegas, NM; Cody and Tyler Craig of Denver, Colorado. Also surviving are sisters, Edith Swift of Sunset Beach and Evelyn Simpson of Lubbock; brother, Jim McAden of Ballinger; brother-in-law, Fred Tyree and wife, Brenda, of Ballinger; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, August 1, 2008 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. at Lange Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Williams officiating. Burial will follow at the Old Runnels Cemetery near Ballinger. Serving as pallbearers will be Bobby Jennings, James Rosser, Jason Craig, Travis Ripple, Adam Craig, Darrell Fenwick, Jay Weatherby, and Sammy Brown
