Virgil Lonnie Bowman

Virgil Lonnie Bowman, 89, of Ballinger, Texas passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014, at his residence.

Virgil was born June 15, 1924, in Maverick, Texas to Benjamin Franklin and Dora May (Harrell) Bowman. After 20 years of service, Virgil retired from Goodyear Proving Grounds, leaving many good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; bothers, J. K., R. W. and W. C.; sisters, Leona Spivey and Alta Lawdermilk; son, Kendall Sahr, and grandchild, Samuel McCloud.

Virgil is survived by his wife, T. J. of Ballinger; four sons, Bunk Bowman and wife, Janice, of Bradshaw, Gregg Bowman and wife, Jewel, of San Angelo, Lonnie Bowman of San Angelo, and Leslie Sahr of Ballinger; brothers, Melvin Bowman of Hearne and Ben Bowman of Ballinger; and sister, Dorene Edborg and husband, Kenneth, of San Angelo. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 10 at 10:30 am at Lange Funeral Home Chapel in Ballinger with Rev. Don Sessom officiating.
