Billie Crockett, 87, passed away July 10, 2014 in Ballinger, Texas.
Billie was born November 3, 1926, in Runnels County to W.B. and Alice Smith. She was a lifelong resident of Ballinger. She and her husband, Dalton, owned and operated the Crockett Gin in Norton, TX from 1959 until their retirement in 1989. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class. Billie enjoyed caring for her home and beautiful yard. For many years she was active in golf and social activities at the Ballinger Country Club. Her other interests included bridge and domino games with several groups of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 52 years, Dalton Crockett.
Survivors include sisters Bobbie Herron of Odessa, Muriel McLeroy and husband, W.B., of Houston; brother Wayne Smith of Ruidoso, New Mexico; nieces Leigh McLeroy of Houston and Lynn Weatherly and husband, Mark, of Katy; nephew Mike Herron and wife, Cyndi, of Odessa; stepdaughters Paula Easter and husband, Jack, of Duncanville, Dana Rich and husband, Jim, of San Antonio, and Patty Esposito and husband, Roddy, of Abilene.
Thank you to the staff at the Central Texas Nursing and Rehabilitation for the special care Billie received for the last four years.
Visitation for family and friends will be at Lange Funeral Home Friday, July 11, 6:00-7:00pm.
Graveside services will be held in Ballinger at the Garden of Memories Cemetery Saturday, July 12, at 2:00pm.
