Ella Mae Gamble

Ella Mae Gamble, longtime resident of Ballinger, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Runnels County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was 89 years old.

She was born May 15, 1919 in Pontotoc (Mason County) Texas to Jim and Bertha (Hibdon) Butler. On October 9, 1937 in Junction she married Jack Earl Gamble, who preceded her in death August 5, 1980. She was a member of Avenue B Church of Christ. She also belonged to the Rebecca Lodge and had served as past president of that organization. Ella Mae was a devoted homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, Leroy Butler and Jim Butler, Jr.

Mrs. Gamble is survived by two daughters, Wanda Binder and husband, Joe, of Ballinger; Patricia Ann Gates and husband, Charles, of San Angelo; two sons, Jim Gamble and wife, Barbara, of Junction; Robert Gamble, presently serving in Iraq and wife, Tylene, of Wharton; three brothers, Elroy Butler of Milano, Norman Butler of Conroe, and Delmon Butler of Corpus Christi. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 6 at 2:00 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home Chapel in Ballinger with Max Pratt officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
