Eugene "Gene" Bernard Rollwitz

Eugene B. “Gene” Rollwitz, 76, a longtime resident of Ballinger, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at Runnels County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

He was born June 1, 1932 in Rowena to Ben and Clara (Jansa) Rollwitz and married Barbara Ferguson on January 12, 1957. Gene was a skilled mechanic and worked several years as a tractor mechanic at Faubion Implement Company, later working as an oil field mechanic with different companies. He was with Amada Oil Well Service Company from 1991 until his retirement. Gene was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Ballinger and had served with the Texas National Guard for over 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Gene is survived by his two daughters, Ronda Ramos and husband, Pasqual, of Ballinger;
and Della Cowan of Fort Worth; his son, Jeffrey Rollwitz and wife, Kim, of Wall; six grandchildren, Michelle Barrow, Jessica Ramos, Tabitha Linebarger, Tiffany Lytle, Mason Rollwitz, and Jake Rollwitz; three great-granddaughters; and one great-grandson.
Also surviving are five sisters and brothers, Margaret Berry of Burleson, Leroy Rollwitz of San Antonio, Louetta Swindell of Virginia, Allen Rollwitz of Midland, and Carl Rollwitz of Andrews.

Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, September 11 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, September 12 at 2:00 p.m. at Old Runnels Cemetery with Fr. Hugh Wade officiating.

The family extends special thanks and appreciation to the staff at Meadow Creek Nursing Home, Runnels County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, and to Ballinger Hospice. Memorials may be made to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital (2222 Welborn St., Dallas, 75219), the American Cancer Society, or to a favorite charity.
