Charlie Edgar Cape 104, of Ballinger and formerly of Paint Rock, passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at Runnels County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Ballinger.

He was born December 29, 1903 in Johnson County, Georgia to Oscar and Mary Etta (Evans) Cape. The family moved to Concho County, Texas in 1904. He lived there until 1998 when he and his wife moved to Ballinger, Texas. He had been a farmer and rancher in the area all his life.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Grady, and two sisters, Flossie Travis and Annie Mae Liverman.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 74 years, Frankie; sisters, Lenora Susie Dover and Mattie Margaret Straley, both of Houston; nephew, Wade Dover of Houston, and niece, Margaret Gentry of San Angelo.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 8 at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 9 at Concho Cemetery with Bro. Bobby Broyles officiating.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Runnels County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and to Hospice of Ballinger for their loving care of Charlie. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to West Texas Rehab or to a favorite charity.
