Dorothy Louise Holubec

Dorothy Louise Holubec went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 7, 2008.

Dorothy was born July 5, 1927 to August and Clara Wendland in Taylor, Texas. Her family moved to the Lowake community where she attended school for a short time. The family then moved to Eola where she graduated from school. Dorothy married Julius Holubec on July 18, 1947, and they shared 61 wonderful years together.

Survivors include her husband, Julius of Rowena; daughter, Janice Parker and husband, Luke, of Ballinger; son, Dennis Holubec and wife, Sherry, of Midkiff; three granddaughters who were the light of Grandma’s life, Jessica Norton and husband, Matt, of Midkiff, Bailey Naugle and husband, Corey, of Stratford, and Koreley Holubec of Lubbock.

Also surviving is a sister, Helen Mahlow and husband, LaVan; brothers, Marvin Wendland and wife, Doris Elaine, and Eugene Wendland and wife, Doris Mae; brother-in-law, Lee Halfmann and wife, Nel; and numerous extended family members from the Wendland and Holubec families. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Nora Halfmann.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 10 at 10:30 a.m. at Lange Funeral Home Chapel in Ballinger. Burial will follow in the Protestant Cemetery in Rowena.

The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to Hospice of Ballinger, Ballinger Home Health, and special caregiver and friend, Cynthia Martinez, who all gave Mom such great care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mount Calvary Lutheran Church of Eola, Hospice of Ballinger, or a favorite charity.
