Johnny Don Booth, 76, of Ballinger passed away Monday, October 27, 2014 in San Angelo.
He was born May 25, 1938 to Robert and Freda (Pennington) Booth in Lamesa, Texas. After high school, Johnny worked as a barber in Odessa and then moved to Lubbock to work as an instructor at Lubbock Technical School where he taught auto body repair. He would eventually become an oilfield welder, a career that he would continue until retirement. Johnny married Elizabeth Ann Plumley on March 30, 1986 in Midland. He was a member of the New Life Refuge Church.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Ann; his children, Shirley Moore and husband Mark of Mesa, AZ, Marvis Smith of Midland, Lisa Hailes and husband David of Midland, Robert Booth and wife Michelle of Midland; his step-children, Ivan Rose of San Angelo, Jimmy Rose of San Angelo, Billy Rose of San Angelo, Amanda Hardy and husband Al of North Carolina, Cathy Avalos and husband Peter of Midland, Kevin Rose and wife Teri of Stanton, Joe Rose and wife Susan of Big Spring, and Timmy Rose of Ballinger; his sisters, Marvis Belt and husband Donald of Odessa and Anna May and husband Ben of Midland. Johnny is also survived by his 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 15 step grandchildren, and 27 step great-grandchildren.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, October 30 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at Lange Funeral Home Chapel in Ballinger. Services will be held on Friday, October 31 at 10:00 am at New Life Refuge Church with Rev. Kenneth Plumley officiating. Burial will follow at Wilmeth Cemetery.
The family requests that memorials be made to New Life Refuge Church or a favorite charity.
