Ida Pauline “Polly” Hadley, 96, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2014 at her residence in Paint Rock.
She was born May 13, 1918 in Menard, TX to Benjamin and Myrtle (Rogers) Luckenbach. Polly married Dannie “Dick” Hadley on June 22, 1938 in Menard. They shared 51 wonderful years together before Dick’s passing on February 13, 1990. She was a homemaker and mother to their 3 children. She also helped Dick with the daily chores on their ranch and farm. Polly was involved with several organizations; she was a 50 year member of the Order Eastern Star Chapter 391, Daughters of the Nile in San Angelo, Social Order of the Beauceant, and a life member of the Paint Rock PTA. She was also past president of the Paint Rock Study Club. Polly started teaching Sunday school when she was 16 and continued until she was 84 years. She was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church in Paint Rock. One of Polly’s favorite pastimes was making quilts for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Polly was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings Joan Eckert, Carlita Jordan, Helen Donop, and Roger Luckenbach.
She is survived by her daughter Chyrel Kennedy and husband Tom of Henrietta; her sons Shultz Hadley and wife Norma of Cleburne and Dickie Hadley and wife Diane of San Angelo; sister Doris Ogden of Abilene; brothers-in-law Nolan Donop of Mason and Sterling Jordan of Art; sister-in-law Tommie Lou Luckenbach; her grandchildren Lesca Hadley, Britt and Shannon Hadley, Shanna and Jon Walker, Debbie and Robert Cooper, Deanna Schaefer, Donna and Fred Taylor, Ben and Amber Kennedy, Colleen and Jerry Wall, and Kelly and Mike Gunter; great grandchildren William, Jonathan, Olivia, Thomas and James Walker, Harris and Britton Hadley, Clay and Coye Schaefer, Abby and Baylee Taylor, Adalyn, Rylan, and Everett Kennedy.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 6:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, November 25 at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Services will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 26 at 1st United Methodist Church in Paint Rock with Bro. Mike Thompson officiating and Rev. Don Sessoms assisting. Burial will follow at Paint Rock Cemetery.
