Eugene H. Lott

Eugene H. Lott, 88, of San Angelo, Texas and formerly of Kansas City, passed away Friday morning, October 24, 2008 at his home.

Gene was born on March 20, 1920 in Fredericksburg, Texas to Henry and Emma (Stehling) Lott. During WWII he proudly served his country in the US Army. He received his BA & BBA from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. He received his MS in accounting from Texas A&M in 1949 as well as his CPA license.

He married Janice Mike in January of 1949, and later the couple moved to Chicago. In 1959 they moved back to Kansas City, Missouri, but in 1992 they moved across the state line into Kansas. In September 2005 they moved to San Angelo, Texas. The couple had no children.

Gene had a distinguished career as a CPA and hospitality consultant. As a partner in Horwath & Horwath, he opened the Kansas City office in the 1950’s and was highly regarded as the local hotel guru. He conducted the feasibility studies for most of the Kansas City area hotels built in the 60’s and 70’s. After the merger of the Horwath & Horwath and Laventhol Krekstein & Griffith firms, Gene served as chairman and longtime member of the Laventhol & Horwath National Council before his retirement in 1978.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice, in March of this year, and his parents.

Gene is survived locally by several nieces and nephews, including Doris Halfmann of Olfen.

A graveside service with military honors will be held Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mount Moriah Cemetery South in Kansas City, Missouri with Rev. Clayton Cook officiating. There will be a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.
