Arthur "Charles" Condra

Arthur Charles Condra, 54, of San Angelo and formerly of Ballinger passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at Shannon Medical Center.

He was born June 5, 1954 in San Angelo to L. C. Condra and Emma Louise (Lane) Condra and lived all his school years in Ballinger, graduating from Ballinger High School in 1972. He attended Texas A&M and received a degree in architectural drafting then returned to this area to work for Gandy’s Dairies where he was employed in maintenance. After Gandy’s closed its operation in San Angelo, Charles went to work for Frank’s Electric and finally for Indeco Electric until 2007 when he became unable to work.

Charles was always an avid science fiction movie fan and could tell you almost anything you could ask on the subject. He also loved to work with wood. His latest projects included wooden trucks and cars.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; a brother, L. C. Condra, Jr.; grandparents, A. L. and Winnie Condra formerly of Ballinger, and D. O. and Ada Lane of San Angelo.

Charles is survived by his wife, Bonnie Condra of Christoval; stepsons, James Brown and Frank Amis, also of Christoval; sisters, Ruth Sherman and husband, Kenneth, of San Angelo, and Durena Coleman and husband, Ed, of Ballinger; brothers, David Condra and wife, Pricilla, and James Condra all of Ballinger. Also surviving are aunts, Melba Walker and Barbara Condra both of San Angelo; five nieces, two nephews, several great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service for Charles Condra will be held Saturday, November 1, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Ballinger with Max Pratt officiating.
