Edna F. Schaefer

Edna Lange Schaefer, 77, of Ballinger died Friday morning, November 7, 2008, at her home with her devoted husband present. She is now in her eternal home after a long battle with cancer and heart disease.

Edna was born on Thursday, July 30, 1931 in Rowena, Texas, to Frank J. and Isabella (Dierschke) Lange. She graduated from Rowena High School in 1949, valedictorian of her class. She married Lester Schaefer on November 25, 1952 in Rowena, TX. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic church for 56 years and served on the Altar Society. She taught C.C.D. classes in Ballinger and helped with vacation bible school by bringing cookies and punch.
God was of utmost importance in her life. She was family oriented and a very giving person. She enjoyed quilts and embroidery.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Karen Ann Schaefer.

Edna is survived by her husband, Lester of Ballinger; two daughters, Laverne Yarborough and husband Jeff of Sweetwater, and Brenda Alexander and husband R.B. of Prosper; five sons, Ralph and wife Billie, Alton and wife Marla, all of Ballinger, Dennis and Bernard of Norton and Greg and wife, Misti of Graham; sisters, Bernice Gully and Mae Del Schaefer of Rowena, and Elaine Pelzel and husband Leroy of Miles; brothers, David Lange and wife Pat, Andrew Lange and wife Helen, all of Rowena and sister-in-law, Anita Schaefer of Ballinger; grandchildren, Charlotte Schaefer, Kristen Alexander, Olivia Alexander, Brandon Schaefer, Allison Schaefer, Emily Schaefer and Lauren Schaefer.

A Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM Sunday, November 9, 2008 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ballinger. A celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Monday at St. Mary with Fr. Hubert Wade officiating. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Rowena.
