Evelyn Clara Michalewicz Jacob, 87, of Ballinger (formerly of Winters), passed away Jan. 16, 2015 in Ballinger.
Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Ballinger. The funeral mass celebrating Evelyn’s life will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015 at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Ballinger. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Winters. Pallbearers will be grandchildren.
Evelyn was born May 25, 1927 in Olfen, Texas to Andrew and Louise (Blaschke) Michalewicz and attended school in Rowena. On July 10, 1946, she married Herbert Jacob of Winters at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Olfen. They farmed in the Winters area all their married life. In 1997, they received the Rural Family of the Year Award from the Winters Chamber of Commerce. They enjoyed playing dominoes and belonged to a “42 Club” that began in 1962.
She retired from Winters Activity Center as a cook for the Meals on Wheels program. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Winters before moving to Ballinger and joining St. Mary Church. She was very active in the Altar Societies for both.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Jacob; grandchild, Jenna Cason, great grandchild, Case Jacob; her parents, Andrew and Louise
Michalewicz; her brothers, Bernie Michalewicz, Warren Mchalewicz; brother and sister-in-law, Donnie and Loretta Michalewicz; her brothers-in-law, Walter Jacob, Olen Weishuhn, Kenneth Hoelscher; step grandson,
Kasey Wheeless.
Evelyn is survived by her son, Gary Jacob and wife, Dinell, of Winters; daughter, Mary Beth Wheeless and husband, Ronnie, of Miles; daughter, Janet Cason and husband, Tad of Ballinger; son, Mark Jacob and wife, Susan, of Winters; grandchildren, Brent Jacob and wife, Brandi, Angela Jacob King and husband Aron, Craig Jacob, Wacey Cason and wife Jessicca, Ty Cason, Megan Jacob, Matt Jacob, step grandson, Kevin Wheeless and wife, Kelli; greatgrandchildren, Carter and Charli Jacob, Ava and Stryke King, Coy Cason, stepgreatgranddaughter, Kennadi Wheeless.
Her sisters, Margie Jacob, Wilma Halfmann and husband, Cecil, Merline Weishuhn, Sherline Strube, and husband, Daniel, and Delores Hoelscher; her sisters-in-law, Beatrice Michalewicz, Sandra Michalewicz, Velma Wilde and Tillie Englert and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Runnels County Meals on Wheels, the American Diabetes Association or a favorite Charity.
