Genevieve Holstead

Genevieve “Gennie” Holstead, 85, of Junction City, Kansas and formerly of Ballinger passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at Valley View Senior Life in Junction City.

Genevieve was born July 6, 1923 in Abilene, Texas, the daughter of Perry Alfred and Huttie Victoria (Speck) Conaway. She married L. D. (Dick) Holstead November 15, 1941, and he preceded her in death August 28, 1999. Also preceding in death were her parents and one sister, Dana Ruth Sandefur.

Gennie retired as a clerk for the Runnels County Tax Collector’s Office and was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She moved to Junction City, Kansas in 2005 to be near her daughter.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Hubbard and husband, David, of Junction City, Kansas. She is also survived by one son, Richard Holstead and his wife, Linda, of Midland; one brother, Jack Conaway of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

There will be a time of viewing and visitation on Thursday, December 4 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home.
Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Ballinger with Max Pratt officiating.
