Doris Lorene Norris

Doris Lorene Reese Norris went to be with the Lord, Tuesday February 18, 2015. Graveside service will be at Greenleaf Cemetery, 2615 US 377, in Brownwood, Texas Saturday February 21, 2015 at 11:00 AM.

Doris was born the oldest of seven children to Lera Belle Seaman Reese and Floyd Reese Sr. on April 23, 1923.

She married James Edward Norris on Mach 1, 1941 in Ballinger. To this marriage two daughters were born; Sandra Jean and Debra Jan. During their early marriage they lived in Brownwood, Wichita Falls, Fort Worth, and SlatonTexas. They settled in San Angelo, Texas in 1943 where they remained until James’ death February 1993.

Doris was a stay at home wife and mom for many years. As her girls grew older she became employed at Hemphill Wells Dept. Store. She began as a gift wrapper during the holidays and advanced through the years to become their lingerie buyer. Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, and sister. Being from a large family and marrying into an even larger family, she was often called on to assist with family needs. She always responded with love and kindness.

Preceding her in death were her parents, daughter, Sandra Jean Norris Brown, granddaughter Jennifer Lea Reynolds, and her siblings Colleen Miller, Lirlene Prudue, Floyd E Reese Jr. and Jackie Ray Reese.

She is survived by daughter Debra Jan Norris Coombs of San Angelo, granddaughters Pamela Brown Potter and husband John of San Angelo; Angela Brown Butler and husband Eric of Hahnville, LA and Stefanie Coombs of Midland,grandsons Jim Max Brown II, of Austin, Henry Richard Coombs and wife Tina of San Angelo, and Jamie Coombs of San Angelo; her brother Lonnie Reese and wife Sandy of Louisiana; and her sister Virginia Sue Ward of Midland, TX. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Henry Coombs, Christopher Coombs, Cody Coombs, Charlie Campbell, Mike Ward, and Cade Butler.
