Tomasa "Tommie" Cortez

Tommie Cortez, 88, of Ballinger, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015 in Austin, Texas.

She was born March 7, 1926 in Paint Rock, TX to Leandro And Georgia (Prendez) Ruiz.
Tommie married Jessie Cortez on October 25, 1943 in Ballinger. She was a former production worker for Dry Manufacturing and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She was very active in her church choir. Tommie will be remembered as someone that was very dependable. She also had a love of music and dancing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jessie; and three brothers.

Tommie is survived by her daughter, Myra Cortez of Austin, and son, Ector R. Cortez of Ballinger. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Rolland Zamarron, Ramon Zamarron, Anissa Zamarron and Cynthia Cortez; and three great-grandchildren.

Rosary will be recited from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 8 at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 9 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ballinger with Rev. Hugh Wade officiating. Burial followed in Ballinger Evergreen Cemetery.
