Mae Cook, 82, of Ballinger died early Saturday morning, January 17, 2009 in a local hospital.

Mae was born on May 16, 1926 in Runnels County, Texas to W. E. (Bill) and Sigrid Johnson Hamilton. She married Elves (Cotton) Cook on January 13, 1945 in Ballinger. He preceded her in death on April 22, 2004. She worked in the cafeteria for the Ballinger High School, retiring in 1981. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

She was also preceded by her parents; a sister, Thelma Moreland; two brothers, Wesley and Earl Hamilton; a sister-in-law, Katrine Hamilton; and a brother-in-law, Troy Moreland.

Survivors include her sons, Bill Cook and wife Linda, Jerry Cook and wife, Debbie and Charlie Cook and wife, Darlene all of Ballinger; grandchildren, Rusty, Jason, Kevin, Kyle, Chad and Lori Cook, and Teisha Schomer; four great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Nelsene Hamilton Turk; and several nieces and nephews.

Family visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 PM, Monday at Lange Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 9:30 AM, Tuesday January 20, 2009 at First Baptist Church in Ballinger with burial to follow at Old Runnels Cemetery in Ballinger.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or a favorite charity.
