Millie Currie Middleton

Millie Currie Middleton, longtime and well-known resident of Ballinger, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at her residence. She was 77.

Millie was born in Troy, New York on August 24, 1931 to Joseph V. and Kathryn Kelso Benis. She married Herbert W. “Hub” Currie, Jr. on May 17, 1962 in Mexico. He passed away October 16, 1982. Millie and Billy Jack Middleton were married February 6, 1990 in Las Vegas, and he preceded her in death November 21, 2004. She worked many years at Middleton’s Dress Shop and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.

Millie is survived by her daughters, Nancy Currie Fullen of Santa Anna, Sally Currie Lane and husband, Danny, of Bangs, and Janey Currie Justiss and husband, Frank, of Ballinger; brother Mike Benis and wife, Mary, of Ohio; grandchildren, Mike Fullen and Marguerite Lane both of Abilene; great-grandson, Kolt Fullen; sister-in law, Betty Parrish and husband, Ben, of Ballinger; and nephew and niece, Jason and Alyson.

Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, January 22 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Concho Cemetery, with Rev. Jay Justiss officiating.

Millie left careful instructions to express her “gratitude to Janey and Frank Justiss for all their care and thoughtfulness”, to give thanks to everyone at Hospice of San Angelo, and to Dr. Charles Marsh and Dr. M Ayass. The family joins her in those expressions of appreciation.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of San Angelo, Ballinger Carnegie Library, or the Humane Society of Ballinger.
