Helen Margaret Ullrich, 98, of Rowena, Texas passed away Friday, July 17, 2015 at Ballinger Healthcare and Rehab Center.
Helen was born fifth of seven children, on the family farm at Crossroads, west of Rowena, on June 19, 1917 to Emil and Mary (Schwertner) Ullrich.
She was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and of the Altar Society.
Helen worked for Monsignor W.F. Bosen at St. Joseph and numerous other places from 1945 until 1977 at which time she moved back to Rowena and worked for Msgr. Benedict Zientek and other priests in Rowena until retiring in 1988 after 43 years of service to the church.
She enjoyed working in her yard, tending to all of her flowers. She also enjoyed her daily walks through downtown Rowena.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Emma Schniers, Frieda Kohrmann, Mary Moeller, Walter Ullrich, and Frank Ullrich.
Helen is survived by her sister, Florene Schmid and husband, Edwin of Brenham. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews spanning four generations.
Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 20, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July 21, at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Joseph Church with Fr. Ariel Lagunilla, Msgr. Benedict Zientek, Fr. Hugh Wade, and Fr. Bhaskar Morugudi concelebrating. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Rowena. Pallbearers include Michael Frenzel, Curtis Schniers, Duane Schniers, Stanley Schniers, Allen Ullrich, and Quinten Halfmann.
