Albert Ross "Pete" Murchison, Jr.

Albert Ross “Pete” Murchison, Jr., 90, of Ballinger passed away Monday, August 24, 2015 at Central Texas Nursing and Rehabilitation in Ballinger.

He was born January 9, 1925 in Ballinger to Albert and Jessie (Trail) Murchison. After high school, he served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Army. Ross attended Sul Ross University in Alpine. He graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree and began a life long career as a geologist. Ross married Shirley Halverson. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ballinger.

Ross was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Michael Murchison; and a sister, Marcia Jones.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; stepchildren, Cheryl Hovarak and husband, Kirk of Christoval, Larry Small of Boone, NC, and Dorothy Upton of Big Springs; special niece, Jennifer Schroeder and husband, Paul of San Angelo; brother, Dick Murchison and wife, Cindy of Picayune, MS; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 pm on Sunday, August 30 at Lange Funeral Home Chapel in Ballinger with Wilma Harris officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the Carnegie Library, Meals on Wheels, or a favorite charity.
