On Saturday, October 17th, 2015, Charles Allen Matschek, 73, went to his heavenly home, surrounded by his family. Charles was born May 31, 1942 to Charlie and Evelyn Matschek. He grew up in the Rowena-Lowake area, working side by side with his dad on the Matschek family farm. He graduated from St. Joseph’s School and attended San Angelo College.
August 16, 1962, Charles married the love of his life, Helen Franke. They spent 53 wonderful years together. They were blessed with six children. Together they raised their family, enjoying a humble life on the farm. Whether sitting around the table telling tall tales or watching his grandchildren play kickball, Charles loved spending time with his family. Charles taught his five boys the meaning of hard work, loyalty and how to be a good man. His only daughter held a special place to him, as he showed her a special and loving side of him that no one else could understand. Throughout the years, Charlie continued to farm; raising cotton, milo, pigs and cattle. He also worked for Runnels County Pct. 4 until his retirement in 2012. He was known for his sense of humor and always had a good joke to tell. Charlie was a simple man who led a simple life and taught his children and grandchildren to enjoy the little things in life. He taught them the importance of faith and to thank God for all the wonderful blessings. A beautiful sunset, cotton crop or a rainbow-we will always remember you.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; and Sons, Clifton Matschek, Brian Matschek and wife, Ginger; Bruce Matschek and wife, Kelly; Brad Matschek and wife, Charlotte; and Scott Matschek; daughter Cindy Gibbs and husband, Marty. He is also survived by brother Tommy and wife, Dorothy, his mother-in law, Lucille Franke, and a large extended family. Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
