Peggy Powers Glascock, 77, of Bronte passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Ballinger Memorial Hospital.
Peggy was born December 29, 1931 in Norton to David LeRoy and Katie Julia (Walker) Powers. She was a member of the Methodist Church and was employed as a bookkeeper for many years. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was devoted to her family and dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also had a special place in her heart for the puppies. Peggy was a sports fan and had a special passion for volleyball. She enjoyed all the Texas teams, especially the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dorothy Niles; and brothers, Leland (“Skeeter”) Powers and Bruce Powers.
Peggy is survived by her three daughters, Brendi Gentry and husband, David, of Norton, Kathy Powers of Bronte, and Kim Canney and husband, Eddie, of Alba; a brother W. O. (“Cowboy”) Powers and wife, Dot, of Dale; four grandchildren, Melinda Gentry, Julia Gentry, and Aimee Watkins, all of San Angelo, and Justin Jordan of Irving; and three great-grandchildren, McKenna and Davashtian Manley and Desiree Watkins, all of San Angelo. Also surviving are numerous nephews and nieces.
There will be a time of visitation for family and friends on Saturday, April 4 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Funeral services will be Sunday, April 5 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Ballinger, with Rev. Joe Chamness officiating. Burial will follow in Ballinger Evergreen Cemetery.
The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Bronte Volunteer Ambulance Service, Meals on Wheels of Bronte, or the American Cancer Society.
