Walter Joseph Carson

Walter Joseph Carson, III, 75, of Ballinger passed away Sunday, January 24, 2016 surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his home.

He was born September 3, 1940 in Port Arthur, TX to Walter and Mary Carson. After graduating high school, he joined the United States Army. In 1974, he began a life-long career with Surety Title as an abstractor. On February 14, 2008, he married Carlene Killough in Ballinger. Walter was a past member of the Ballinger Rotary Club and the Runnels County Sheriff’s Reserves.

Walter was preceded in death by a grandson, L.J. Nitsch.

He is survived by his wife, Carlene of Ballinger; his children, Lisa Yates of Winters, Walter Joseph (Joey) of Lubbock, Sherry Calcote of Rowena, and Teri Vogler of Santa Anna; grandchildren, Meagan Smith, Garrett Nitsch, Hayden Nitsch, Allison Lunsford, and Jennifer Martin. Also surviving are his great-grandchildren, Zane, McKinley, Kendall, McKenna, Jace, and Vada.

Walter’s family will sorely miss his infinitely positive and infectious attitude.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, January 26 at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 27 at the First United Methodist Church in Ballinger with Myron Halford officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Winters.
