Frankie Marie Cape

Frankie Marie Cape, 95, of Ballinger and formerly of Paint Rock, passed away Friday, April 17, 2009 at Ballinger Memorial Hospital.

Frankie was born April 18, 1913 in Gap, Texas to George William and Kittie May Redwine. She graduated from Munday High School in 1931 and attended North Texas State Teachers College in Denton. She was one of the first 4-H participants in Knox County and later was the first Home Demonstration member in Concho County. She and Charlie Edgar Cape married on October 28, 1933 in Munday, and the couple farmed and ranched in the Concho County area until moving to Ballinger in 1998. Mr. Cape preceded her in death October 7, 2008. She called herself a “domestic engineer” and was a member of Avenue B Church of Christ in Ballinger.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant son, two brothers, Ruben L. Redwine and Silas S. Redwine, and two sisters, Clara Redwine and Eula M. Hayes.

Frankie is survived by a sister, Ruth Hutchens of Munday; a niece, Mrs. Ralph Lewis of Dumas; sisters-in-law, Lenora Susie Dover and Mattie Margaret Straley, nephew-in-law, Wade Dover and wife, Peggy, all of Houston; and niece-in-law, Margaret Gentry of San Angelo.

There will be a time of visitation for family and friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 19 at Lange Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday, April 20 at 10:00 a.m. at Avenue B Church of Christ with Max Pratt officiating. Burial will follow at Concho Cemetery.

The family wishes to express gratitude to the staff of Runnels County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for their love and care. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
