Joyce Marlene Piel

Joyce Marlene Piel, 81, of Ballinger passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016 in San Angelo.

She was born on July 11, 1934 in Sulpher Springs, TX to Monroe and Zeola (Morehead) Venable. On May 16, 1953, Joyce married the love of her life, Willard Piel. They shared 52 years together before his passing on February 10, 2005. She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Ballinger. Joyce was a member of the Professional Women’s Club, United Methodist Women’s Club, and the Friendship Sunday School Class. She also volunteered her time at the food pantry for many years. Joyce enjoyed playing bunko and mahjong with her friends.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

She is survived by her children, Leslie Piel of Ballinger, Allison Fischer and husband, Randy of San Angelo, Kathy Willeford and husband, Chris of Canton, Gay Fuentes of San Angelo, and Christopher Piel and wife, Jennifer of Lubbock; a brother, Darrell Venable of Odessa; special friend, Jerry Cassle of Cross Plains; grandchildren, Brian, Breanne, Ty, Courtney, Matthew, Jacob, Logan, Stephanie, and Amanda; her great-grandchildren, Ariana, Collin, Isaiah, and Lily.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 7:00-8:00 pm on Friday, April 1 at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 2 at the First United Methodist Church in Ballinger with Rev. Buddy Moore officiating. Burial will follow at the Protestant Cemetery in Rowena.
