William “Darrell” Fenwick, age 74, of Ballinger, entered into eternal peace on Monday, March 28, 2016. Darrell was born to Eddie and Carrie Fenwick on October 14, 1941.
Darrell is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elnora Brewer Fenwick; his sisters, June Fenwick Betancourt and Chris Fenwick Kamenzind; his brothers, Wally and Michael Fenwick.
Darrell is survived by his son Jay Keith Fenwick (wife, Linda) of Millington, Tennessee; daughter Elaine Fenwick Erwin (husband, Doug) of Georgetown, Texas; sisters Barbara Garrett and Paula Sue Belcher; grandchildren Tristian Fenwick, Drake Fenwick, and Luke Erwin.
Darrell has nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to his many loving friends for loyal and continued friendship over many years. You have each made a measurable difference in his life and he loved you.
The people who knew Darrell best remembered his love for the outdoors. To all extremes, his experiences with fishing, hunting, and rattlesnakes were endless. Darrell maintains the Runnels County record for the largest catfish caught on a trot line. Having been stolen from its holding tank the night of the catch, the catch and “return” made Ballinger paper’s front page headlines in 1975 after the 60 plus pound catfish was found abandoned by thieves in a bar ditch in a shallow mud puddle barely alive. He was a man full of wit and wisdom and entertaining tales, though this one was indeed true.
A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday April 16, 2016 at Lange Funeral Home, 908 N 8th St, Ballinger, TX 76821.
Darrell’s final chosen contribution in his earthly life was to donate his body for the advancement of medical science and teaching. In lieu of flowers, the family has graciously requested donations be made to the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Willed Body Program, Claude Lobstein at 806-743-2700 or send your email to

John 14:1-4 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.”
