Bobby E. Rogers, 83, of Winters, Texas, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at his residence.
He was born February 20, 1933, near Ackerly, Texas, to Ira Washington and Lucille (Jones) Rogers. Bobby honorably served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War. All his working life he was involved in farming and ranching. Bobby was active in the Farmers Union and Runnels County Young Farmers. He also served as a member of the North Runnels Hospital Board and as an elder at the Presbyterian Church. Bobby deeply loved his family and had a very special love and devotion for his sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bobby is survived by his three sons, Don Rogers and wife Cindy of Granbury, Doug Rogers of Colleyville, and Mark Rogers of Winters; grandchildren, Whitney Sawyer, Heather Garrett, Tyler Rogers, and Russell Rogers; and great-grandchildren, Egan and Sloane Sawyer. Also surviving are his sister, Ouida Nichols and husband Jiggs of Winters; nephews, Mike Rogers, Rusty and Dusty Nichols; sister-in-law, Wanda Rogers; and numerous other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 9, at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Winters.
The family requests that any memorials be made to the Winters Volunteer Fire Department.
