Modesto Salinas, Sr., 78, of Miles, Texas passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Central Texas Nursing and Rehabilitation in Ballinger, Texas.
He was born February 24, 1938 to Faustino and Escolastica (Pena) Salinas in Juno, Texas. He married Hortencia Arevalo on April 21, 1958 in Rowena, TX. They shared fifty eight years together. Modesto was an avid baseball fan, coaching little league and pony league teams in Miles. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, making yard figurines during special holidays, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Modesto was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Hortencia of Miles; his daughters, Leticia Salinas and Terrie Breitigan of Wichita, KS, Carmen and Steve Sugg of Evant, TX, Cecilia and Jay Beyer of Miles, Linda and David Gonzales of Peaster, TX, Cassandra Salinas of Rowena. His sons, Modesto Sr. and Misti of Weatherford, TX, Cipriano and Sylvia of Coleman, TX, Tony and Sherri of Grapevine, TX, James of San Angelo, Cornelius and Darrell Latham of Jackson, MS, Faustino of Miles, and Dennis Hoes of Miles; twenty three grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brother, sister, and the rest of his extended family and friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00-7:00 pm on Sunday, April 10 at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Rosary will be recited, after visitation, at 7:00 on Sunday, April 10 at Lange Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 11 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Miles with Fr. Ariel Lagunilla celebrating. Burial will follow at Miles Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Tyler Salinas, Bobby Scott Salinas, Christian Gonzales, George Reyes, Tanner Beyer, Mark Martinez, Clay Sugg, Bobby Sugg, Christopher Payne, and Christopher Lee.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Memory Lane at Central Texas Nursing and Rehabilitation for their exceptional care of their dad. Also a special thank you to Hospice of San Angelo.
