Randy Alan Goetz

Randolph (Randy) Alan Goetz, age 68, of Florence, Texas, passed away December 10, 2015, comfortably in his home surrounded by family and friends.
Randy was born to Herman W and Virginia R (Witsaman) Goetz on July 18, 1947 in Ballinger, TX. He was preceded in death by his mother and father in 2003, Sister-in-Law Terri L Goetz of Ballinger, Brother-in-Law JD Taylor of Midland, and cousin Gary Goetz. He is survived by his wife Sally A Goetz, loving son and his wife TJ & Kayla Goetz and grandson Rowdy W Goetz of Harker Heights, TX, sister Janice P Taylor of Midland, TX, brother Terry L Goetz of Ballinger, TX, and uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Randy was a 20-year veteran of the United States Air Force and served as a Jet Engine Mechanic. He started his career at Lackland AFB, San Antonio for basic training. His first duty station was in Libya, North Africa. His second assignment was with the Strategic Air Command, 85th Strategic Aerospace Wing at Dyess AFB, TX. From Dyess, he went on many temporary assignments to various Western Pacific locations; Vietnam, Kadena AB, Okinawa, U-Tapao to name a few. He spent 4 years in Ramstein, Germany before coming back to the States to Minot AFB, ND. This is where he met his wife of 40-years, Sally A (Carrier) Goetz. He enjoyed the great fishing and hunting in this area. His last assignment was at Bergstrom AFB, Austin. He retired in 1987. He belonged to 2 bass clubs and fished all over the state.
In 1989 Randy and Sally moved to Round Rock, TX and had a son, Trevor J (TJ) Goetz. They moved north of Georgetown in 1997, so they could have "A" horse. Four horses later they outgrew their place and moved to their current ranch in Florence, TX. He enjoyed going to playdays and team ropings with his family. His other passion was going to various FFA, Fire Department and church fund raisers /functions to support the children and town folks.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 23 at Lange Funeral Home Chapel in Ballinger. Burial will follow at Old Runnels Cemetery.
