Barbara Laverne Stafford

Barbara LaVerne Stafford, 79, of Ballinger passed away Sunday, May 17, 2009 at Ballinger Memorial Hospital.

She was born September 23, 1929 in Brownwood to Walter Scott and Annie Laurie (Leith) Marshall. Barbara was baptized at the age of forty at the First Baptist Church in Follett, Texas. Barbara married Edgar Wayne Stafford on August 3, 1948 in Pampa, Texas. She was a mother, homemaker, and bookkeeper for the family while they were self-employed in Follett, Texas. She traveled overseas with her husband while he was employed in the oil field industry i.e. Saudi Arabia, Libya, and Indonesia. She and her husband retired in Winters, Texas to be close to their children and grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Virginia Brown, Betty Ann Marshall, and Emelda Harrison; and a brother, Carol Marshall.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband of over 60 years, Wayne Stafford of Winters; sons, David Stafford and wife, Regina, of Midland, Lynn Stafford and wife, Echo, of Chula Vista, California, and Leslie Stafford of the Dallas area; a daughter, Susie Kresta and husband, Dave, of Odessa; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 18 at Lange Funeral Home. A graveside service for Barbara will be held Wednesday, May 20 at 3:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean, Texas.
