Olan Thomas McMinn, Jr., age 70, resident of Cleveland, Tennessee and formerly of Ballinger, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2009 in a Tennessee healthcare center.
He was a member of the Church of God. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Disabled Veterans. He was the owner of Mack’s Exterminating and GFB Filter Service, both located in Texas. He was a true entrepreneur. When he saw something that needed to be done, he found a way to complete the task. He will be missed.
Mr. McMinn was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn McMinn of Cleveland, Tennessee; mother, Mildred Atkins Meredith of Sundown; one son, Keith McMinn of Spring; four daughters, Toni Schuman and Dana Heubner both of Cleveland, Dee Dee Cude of Ballinger, and Shari McMinn of Kingwood; two brothers, James McMinn of Odessa and Jerel McMinn of Sundown. Fourteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, May 18 at 10:00 a.m. at Grissom Funeral Home in Tennessee. Rev. Kenneth Bowers officiated. A graveside service will be held at Crews Cemetery on Thursday, May 21 at 1:00 p.m.
