Marie R. Escobar, 72, of Abilene passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.

She was born April 1, 1944 in Eden, Texas to Polo and Nieves Reyes. Marie married Fermin Escobar, Jr. and they shared 48 years together. She worked for Kmart in Joliet, IL for 25 years. She retired in 2005, moved back to Texas, and became a “full-time” homemaker. Marie loved to cook, bake, and sew for her husband and family.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws; infant babies; 4 sisters; 1 brother; and several nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her husband, Fermin of Abilene; her brothers, Juan Reyes and wife of San Angelo and Paul Reyes and wife of Abilene, TX; her sisters, Carolina Anaya and husband of Lubbock, TX and Elida Lozano of Anson, TX; and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, May 10 at Lange Funeral Home Chapel in Ballinger. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, May 11 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ballinger with Fr. Hugh Wade celebrating. Burial will follow at the Latin American Cemetery.
