Vickie Lynn Payne, 72, formerly of Ballinger, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2016, in Red Oak, Texas.

Vickie was born in Ballinger on August 31, 1943 to Leslie Pearl McQueen and Thomas Wilford Pleasants. She attended Ballinger schools elementary thru high school. She was married for a brief time to Wayne Witt of Ballinger before he was tragically killed in a car accident. On February 8, 1963, she married Roy Don Payne and they shared forty-nine years of marriage. Soon after they were married, they moved to Dallas, Texas where they raised their children and Vickie worked as a bank teller for over twenty years. In the late 90’s, she and Don moved back to Ballinger. She loved to garden and loved animals. Some of Vickie’s pets included doves, rabbits, goats, a pet turtle, and always a dog at her side. She moved to Red Oak, Texas in 2014 to be near her children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don and her mother, Pearl Ransbarger.

Vickie is survived by a daughter, Julia Duke and husband, Randy of Waxahachie; a son, Michael Don Payne and wife, Diane of Allen; a brother, Tommy Pleasants and wife, Judy of Weatherford. Vickie was blessed with seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 21 at Evergreen Cemetery with Bro. Bobby Broyles officiating.
