Audrey Lee Schniers

Audrey Lee Schniers, age 79 and longtime resident of Miles, passed away Monday, May 25, 2009 at her residence.

She was born December 14, 1929 in Rowena to Erwin W. and Helen (Kasberg) Kleypas and lived all her life in the Rowena/Miles area. She and Henry Schniers were married September 6, 1952 in Rowena. She was employed by the Miles Independent School District working several years in the cafeteria. Audrey was an exceptional cook and loved cooking for her family, the students, and many others who enjoyed and appreciated her abilities in the kitchen. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Miles.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three siblings, Gladys Bynum, Eileen Glass, and Erwin Kleypas, Jr.; and a grandson, Kameron Tipps.

Audrey is survived by her husband, Henry Schniers, of Miles; her children, Cheryl Smetana and husband, Glenn, of Eola, Gaylon Schniers of Miles, Marsha McGuire and husband, Charles, of Miles, and Gina Tipps of Crosby; two sisters, Annabelle Matschek and husband, Victor, of Rowena, and Karla Sturm and husband, Fred, of San Angelo; a brother, Earl Kleypas and wife, Doris, of Burleson, and sister-in-law, Vernell Kleypas of Rowena. Also surviving are grandchildren, Mandy Smetana, Dustan Smetana, and wife, Kari, Kendi McGuire, Colin McGuire, Karli Tipps, and Alyssa Tipps, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Rosary will be recited Wednesday, May 27 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Miles. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 28 at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Thomas Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Rowena.
