Olen Edward Potts, Sr.

Olen Edward Potts, Sr., 83, of Winters passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016 at his residence in Winters.

He was born January 12, 1933 to Luther and Nora (Boles) Potts in Baird, Texas. On March 7, 1964, he married Iva Horton in Winters. They shared forty years together before she passed away in August of 2004. Olen worked in the oilfield most of his life, mainly as a truck driver.

Olen was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter, Teresa Chavez in 2008; and 12 brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his daughters, Wendy Kraatz and husband, John and Pauline Sherman and husband, Billy all of Winters; a son, Olen Potts, Jr. and fiancé, Charlotte Sortwell of Winters; and his 19 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Winters with Robert Sherman officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Winters.
